REAL ID deadline extended to May 2025

The Department of Homeland Security has extended the deadline for enforcement of the REAL ID Act to May 7, 2025.

For most New Mexicans, the likeliest effect of the REAL ID Act will be on air travel. If you show your driver’s license or state ID card at the airport in order to board a commercial flight, starting on May 7, 2025, that state driver’s license/ID will need to be REAL ID Act-compliant.
