Job Title: Full Time Staff Attorney – Civil Legal Services
Job Location: Albuquerque, NM
Job Type: Elder Law – Civil
Organization: Senior Citizens’ Law Office, Inc.

The Senior Citizens’ Law Office, Inc. (SCLO) provides free legal services to clients in Central New Mexico (Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia Counties). We help seniors aged 60 and older, many with incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level. Position Description:
SCLO is seeking a full time attorney with 1-2 years legal experience to start August 1, 2018. The attorney will be responsible for providing a range of legal services — including brief services to full representation before courts and administrative agencies — to seniors throughout our service area. The attorney will also be expected to pursue systemic advocacy efforts that impact large numbers of seniors locally and statewide, and will work in multiple practice areas, with a special focus on landlord-tenant, consumer, and public benefits. Additionally, the attorney will conduct community education and outreach activities, including educational presentations on topics of interest to seniors in our service area.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in public interest and poverty law, and be patient with and sensitive to seniors.

Requirements:
Graduate of accredited law school. Licensed New Mexico Bar member, or licensed in another state and eligible to waive into the New Mexico Bar. (See NMRA 15-301.2 and 15-107.) Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to manage a caseload, and to build collaborative relationships with SCLO staff, our partner legal services agencies, and the community. Preference will be given to candidates with litigation experience. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.

How to Apply:
Applications should be emailed to eleitzer@sclonm.org and must include a cover letter, current resume, writing sample, and three references. No phone calls please.

Submission Deadline:
Until filled.
